Description

The Contrast fabric, designed by Tamar de Shalit in 1980 provides the covering for these Tamart scatter cushions.

The original Contrast cloth was handwoven by Tamar on wooden looms at her home studio, where she regularly fashioned scarves for her husband Arthur Goldreich to wear. Tamar’s textiles, inspired by Anni Albers, exemplified her ability to merge function, aesthetics and culture. Arthur received nearly 20 scarves crafted by Tamar, describing them as architectural objects and wore them constantly in the winter, as well as in chilly air-conditioned surroundings in the height of summer.

With contemporised production by infamous British textile mill Bute, Tamart is pleased to exclusively present the Contrast textile, a black and white woven tweed, within its collection of upholstered furniture and cushions, giving it new relevance in the present.

The concept for making scatter cushions came out of using up left over fabric from the Tamart Clore Lounge Chair and Clore Ottoman. They are available as complete cushions or cushion covers and in two sizes.
