Description
The 1971 Twine Ring takes its inspiration from weaving cloth with threads interlaced. The original ring was handcrafted in 1971 by Tamar de Shalit, from silver rod and wire, shaped and soldered together. A mould and casting process now preserves the unique design, encapsulating every detail of Tamar’s hand and tool marks within the ring.
While pregnant with her only son (Tamart founder, Amos Goldreich), Tamar was confined to bed rest for months. Seeking a creative outlet, she began making rings by hand. Her work stands as a fusion of modernist rigor and artistic sensitivity, emphasising practicality, beauty and cultural relevance. Both Tamar and husband Arthur Goldreich designed and crafted jewellery as an intimate expression of their artistic partnership and shared creativity throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Each piece of Tamart Jewellery is cast from the original designs individually crafted by Tamar and Arthur. They are made to order in London’s Hatton Garden jewellery district from 100% recycled precious metal and hallmarked with the Tamart makers mark. The items are presented in fabric pouches sewn from the remnants of the exclusive Tamart Contrast textile. This British made fabric is a handwoven cloth designed by Tamar in 1980, when she regularly made scarves on a wooden loom for Arthur to wear.
The 1971 Twine Ring is a unisex style made to perfectly fit your finger size with an estimated delivery time of 7-10 days.
